Chilly Long Tailed Tit | Joel Walley Wildlife Photography
Winter Long Tailed Tit. As the name suggests, Long tailed tits (Aegithalos caudatus) are characterised by their long tail which exceeds the length of their body. The Long-tailed tit has some amazing breeding behaviour, with adult birds using up to 1,500 feathers to line their nests. Both parent birds make the nests and feed the young. Occasionally, other birds from the flock will feed the young, particularly if they have lost their own nest or are siblings of the parent birds.
