White Tailed Sea Eagle | Joel Walley Wildlife Photography
Adult female White Tailed Sea Eagle (Haliaeetus albicilla) flying close overhead. We had hoped to go on the boat trip where the eagles were fed, however they were finished for the season. We were very fortunate to attract the interest of this adult as we tracked an Otter along the shore. It flew slowly passed, circled once overhead and then headed over to the other side of the loch. An unforgettable experience. The White Tailed Sea Eagle is Britain's largest bird of prey with females such as this having a wingspan of over 8ft. The largest individual from Scotland weighed 17lb.
