Hooded Crow | Joel Walley Wildlife Photography
Hooded Crow (Corvus cornix). Until recently these were regarded as a geographical variation of the Carrion Crow (Corvus corone) as the two hybridized and looked very similar. However, since 2002 the Hooded Crow has been recognised as a species in its own right as studies showed that hybrid offspring were far less capable of reproducing, which is key to the current definition of what makes a species.
