Floating Fulmar | Joel Walley Wildlife Photography
Adult fulmar (Fulmaris glacialis) gliding over the sea cliffs of North Wales at close range. Fulmars are in the Procellariiformes order and are like a miniature northern hemisphere Albatross, with the same tube nose and agile flight as their larger southern hemisphere cousins. They also share some of the same behavioural traits, and pairs mate for life. Fulmars spend the majority of the year offshore and only come to land to breed, where they nest on sea cliffs around the UK.
